Entrepreneurs are constantly in the headlines. However, contrary to popular belief, entrepreneurs are not the only type of wealth creator. For over 20 years, Dr Adrian Atkinson and his team have worked with most types of business and non-profit making organisation. Their research has shown not one, but four main routes to wealth creation. Not all Leaders are Wealth Creators and there are very few wealth creators in organisations but they are vital for success.
Business researchers have often described the life cycle of an organisation from birth, growth, mature maintenance, decline to death or re-invention. The reason for the decline of formerly very successful companies has never been clear. Why did Courtaulds disappear in the 80s? Why did IBM almost go under in the 90s? We have found that when the key people in an organisation are no longer wealth creators the company is on its' way out.
Our research shows that a healthy, growing organisation has at least three of the four different types of Wealth Creators. Without these three 'types' of wealth creators the organisations can lose their way and die. The four types of wealth creator that have been identified by Dr Adrian Atkinson and his team are 'The Expert'; 'The Corporate'; 'The Enterpriser'; 'The Entrepreneur'.
