Massimo is a physicist who has focused on the spread of technological and scientific culture, as well as innovation, for the past twenty years. He works in university lecture halls, online, in museums, publishing, radio, television, in companies and in “The FabLab”. He particularly focuses on the relationship between humans and technology.

He acts as a consultant for radio shows on the themes of science, technology and innovation (Rai Radio 2, Rai Radio 3, Radio 24, Virgin Radio).

He has presented programmes on technology for DeaKids (SKY), in particular X Makers with Giovanni Muciaccia, and has starred in programmes for Discovery (Inside Mercedes) and LaEffe. He presents “L’Officina delle Idee”, involving little clips about the history of science, in the programme Memex, broadcast on Rai Scuola and Rai 2.

His latest books include “Storie e cultura della televisione” (edited by Aldo Grasso and published by Mondadori, 2013), “Il codice delle invenzioni. Da Leonardo da Vinci a Steve Jobs” (2011), “La Banda di Via Panisperna” (2013) and “Innovatori. Come pensano le persone che cambiano il mondo” (2015) all published by Hoepli Editore. He is the scientific director of the “Microscopi” series published by Hoepli.

Massimo was the academic director of the first course of Digital Fabrication promoted by Samsung and distributed by IED Milan, and he is the coordinator of the AICA national Observatory. He is the president and founder of The FabLab.

Since 2011 he has been iProf of the OilProject, and since 2012 he has taught Anthropology and Sociology at IED in Milan and “Technological Platforms for Television” at Cattolica University. He organises seminars on the history of technology for secondary schools, universities and various master’s courses, as well as collaborating with several magazines (Link. Idee per la Televisione, Focus, Nuova Secondaria, ToBe, etc.), writing essays on the world of ICT and Innovation. He also gave a Ted Talk in Florence.

He has worked as a consultant for the Turin company BasicNet (K-Way, Superga, Kappa, Robe di Kappa, Jesus Jeans) for the development of the company’s cultural projects and in the planning stages of the new Information Science and Technology Museum in Turin. He has also worked at the National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan for ten years, focusing on the organisation of educational workshops and scientific exhibitions, and in 2005 he became the curator of the Communications Department.
